Jaipur -Sheer Symphony in Pink :

Jaipur, the 'Pink City of India' is the of superlatives, where breathtaking beauty and rich art and culture blend superbly. It was founded in 1727 AD. By Sawi Jai Singh ll and was named after him. He was not only a great ruler, but was also a renowned mathematician and astrologer. Jai Singh's various talents and talents and tastes are well exhibited in his dream city. The designing of the city was entrusted upon a young and talented Bengali architect, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. It was laid with precision, on the basis of principles of 'Shilp Shastra', the ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. The city was built in the form of a rectangle divided into blocks (chowkries), with roads and avenues running parallel to the sides. The layout of the streets was based on a mathematical grid of nine squares representing the ancient Hindu map of the universe. The palace sector or 'Chowkri Sarhad' is at the centre of Jaipur, where major monuments of the city are located. The city was fortified by a peripheral wall with huge seven gateways. The rugged hills on three sides of the city, each crowned by a formidable fort, further strengthens the defenses of Jaipur. In 1863 Jaipur dressed itself in Pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. The capital city of Rajasthan still preserves its rich heritage and culture and is a fine blend of antiquity and modernity.
Jaipur, is also a Producing exquisite gold jewellery enamelled or inlaid with precious or semi-precious stones, blue pottery, stone and ivory, block print and tie and dye textiles, leather articles etc. Today, Jaipur has emerged as one of the most sought after destinations on the tourist map of the world.
